March 2017: Attended Buenos Aires Conference on Safe Schools. April 2017: Attended post-conference briefing for missions in New York.

July 2018: Co-sponsored resolution 2427 (2018).

October 2018: UN WPS open debate advocacy in New York. GCPEA first meeting with Morocco. Gisela met with the Ambassador and his Counsellor. They could see no reason why they would not endorse. The Ambassador said that his government was committed to the protection of education, and highlighted the importance of education for interrupting the cycle of violence in conflict situations. He referred to the situation in Syria. Morocco works closely with Norway on humanitarian and human rights issues and would welcome an approach by them. The Ambassador will chair the ECOSOC humanitarian affairs segment, to be held in Geneva in May 2019, and would be happy to cooperate on a side event on this topic. The Counsellor said they would refer to the issue in the draft of the statement for the open debate that they send to capital. Follow-up: Letter for Foreign Minister and gender recommendations sent by email. GCPEA will encourage Norway to reach out in New York.

March 2019: Clustered Interactive Dialogue with the SRSG Ms. Virginia Gamba, HRC Geneva:referred to the right to education and access to education during armed conflict.

May 2019: Participated in the Third International Conference in Palma.

August 2019: Morocco announced endorsement of the Vancouver Principles during the Security Council open debate on Children and Armed Conflict.

September 2019: Morocco endorsed the Safe Schools Declaration. The Permanent Mission of Morocco highlighted in Twitter the endorsement.

October 2019: GCPEA issued letters to their Foreign Minister, encouraging them to highlight in their statements to the Council the Safe Schools Declaration as a tool to ensure implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325.

October 2019: During the WPS open debate, Morocco mentioned the following reference: “In the context of child protection and conflict prevention, the Kingdom of Morocco recently acceded to the Safe Schools Declaration and the Vancouver Principles on Peacekeeping and the Prevention of the Recruitment and Use of Child Soldiers.”

October 2021: cosponsored UNSRC2601.

July 2022: At the UNSC CAAC debate : – As a state party to the Safe Schools Declaration remain supportive of CAAC agenda

November 2022: Endorsed the Political Declaration on Strengthening the Protection of Civilians from the Humanitarian Consequences Arising from the Use of Explosive Weapons in Populated Areas (EWIPA) on 18 November during an International Conference hosted by Ireland, the leader and penholder behind the Declaration.
