January 2017: Meeting in GVA with Vero. Very proud to have been driving the child soldiers agenda during their UNSC presidency in 2005. The CAAC agenda remains a priority for them. He personally follows closely the situation of children in Yemen and referred to military use of schools there. The representative had analysed previous supportive statements (which I thought came from the Oslo conference). He offered to suggest to his Minister that Benin will be in partnership with another state to host the next conference. Follow-up email from diplomat indicating that the government is considering endorsement.
July 2018: Co-sponsored resolution 2427 (2018) and joined the statement of Canada on behalf of the GoF which mentioned the Safe Schools Declaration.
October 2021: cosponsored UNSRC2601.
March 2023: ID SRSG CAAC (52 HRC) national statement: – Our Government is party to the Safe Schools Declaration
