March 2017: Attended Buenos Aires Conference on Safe Schools.

June 2017: Amnesty International issued a press release, condemning the use of excessive force and the shooting of a student inside a school in Jammu and Kashmir by security forces of India, and referring to the Declaration and Guidelines.

October 2017: GCPEA received information indicating that the authorities are deliberately delaying reconstruction of schools in Kashmir in order to punish the local population for participating in protests.

February 2018: GCPEA approached a representative of the Geneva Mission following a meeting and followed up in writing to share information and request a meeting.

April 2019: Human Rights Watch published a dispatch on protection of Indian schools during the upcoming national elections. The dispatch underlines the need for protection of schools from Maoists violence in the run up to the elections and reminds that India’s Supreme Court has repeatedly ordered the government to ensure school buildings are not occupied by security forces for any purpose.

JUly 2019: UNSC CAAC open debate: “Preventing persistent attacks on schools, especially girls’ schools, and ensuring heath care also call for greater attention.”
