November 2018: GCPEA met with the Third Committee expert in the Mission in New York. It was first meeting with Eswatini to provide an overview of the Safe Schools Declaration, and encourage participation to the Third International Conference. GCPEA followed up with a letter addressed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
May 2019: participated in the Palma conference.
June 2019: Nevena sent a follow-up email to the conference participant sharing endorsement procedure.
July 2019: Human Rights Watch made a submission to the Committee on the Rights of the Child, in which they congratulate Eswatini for participating in the latest International Safe Schools Conference, and encourage them to endorse the Safe Schools Declaration. GCPEA shared the submission with the expert from the Ministry of Education who had attended the international conference.
October 2019: GCPEA met with the First Secretary from the Mission in Geneva. She responded positively to the briefing on the Safe Schools Declaration and promised to make a positive recommendation to capital. GCPEA shared the submission on Eswatini made by Human Rights Watch to the Committee on the Rights of the Child, congratulating Eswatini for participating in the latest International Safe Schools Conference, and encouraging them to endorse. GCPEA also highlighted the upcoming commemorative events in Geneva celebrating 30 years of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in Geneva as an excellent opportunity to announce endorsement.
