Allyson Bachta

Allyson Bachta is the Senior Researcher at the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack (GCPEA). She holds a PhD in Global Governance and Human Security from the University of Massachusetts Boston, where her dissertation, “Schools as Geopolitical Spaces: Violence Against Education During the Bosnian War (1992–1995),” examines the strategic use of attacks on schools by state and non-state armed actors and their implications for international humanitarian law. She also holds an M.S. in Global and International Education from Drexel University and an M.Ed. in Science Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. In addition to her strong background in social science research and more than 18 years of experience in K–12 education, Allyson has extensive professional experience leading organizational change initiatives, facilitating Peer Learning Communities, and designing both in-person and virtual training opportunities. In her previous role at Essential Partners, she facilitated dialogues on a variety of topics and provided technical consulting to institutions, focusing on strategic planning and stakeholder engagement.
