Ilaria Paolazzi is the Senior Advocacy and Policy Adviser at GCPEA. Ilaria leads and coordinates GCPEA’s Working Group on the Safe Schools Declaration to ensure effective multi-agency advocacy for protecting education in armed conflict. Ilaria has extensive experience in human rights advocacy at the international level, including ten years in the child rights sector. Prior to joining GCPEA, she was Deputy Director of Child Rights Connect Network, leading global advocacy on a wide-range of child rights issues. Before that, she worked with several human rights organisations, including the Association for the Prevention of Torture, the Danish Institute Against Torture, and the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network. She also worked in the humanitarian sector with the Italian decentralised cooperation and in the social sector as educator for children from disadvantaged backgrounds in Italy. Ilaria holds a BSc in International Relations and a Master’s degree in Human Rights and International Cooperation from Bologna University (Italy). She is fluent in Italian, English, French and Spanish.
