June 2018: Zama met with Ambassador Loreen Bannis-Roberts, who was unfamiliar with the Declaration, but was very receptive and recognized need to protect education. Dominica will not make statements at CAAC Open Debate on 9th July. Endorsement template to the Ministry of Education will be sent with the idea that the country could endorse the Declaration in the following week.
September 2018: Ahead of the UN WPS open debate, GCPEA a letter addressed to Foreign Minister sent to the Mission in New York. The letter encourages the government to endorse the Safe Schools Declaration and advocate for continued access to quality, conflict-sensitive education for women and girls.
November 2022: Following Colombia’s endorsement to the SSD, GCPEA convinced and supported the Permanent Mission of Argentina in Geneva to send a Note Verbale to the remaining GRULAC non-endorsing states: Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela – encouraging them to endorse the SSD.
