March 2017: Attended Buenos Aires Conference on Safe Schools, represented from capital. Indicated that he would make a positive recommendation. Rodney Philio, director of health and safety, ministry of education, rphilo@eduhq.edu.sc.

February 2019: GCPEA met with the Counsellor. This was the first meeting with Seychelles. The Counsellor stated that the Seychelles was the only country in Africa that has fully achieved education for all and that the Declaration is in line with their values. She highlighted that they could endorse but implementation would not be a priority since the Seychelles is a peaceful country. She was interested to learn why other small islands states haven’t endorsed yet. She promised to share the information with her capital. Follow-up: GCPEA followed up in writing, sharing a letter for the Foreign Minister.

October 2019: GCPEA met with the Counsellor. This was the second meeting with Seychelles this year. She is positive and supportive, and reassured that in capital there are no objections to endorsement. The issue is getting people to prioritize it and actually sign off. She took the hard copy of the report on attacks on women and girls in Kasai region, DRC, and promised to hand it to their Head of Office of the Ambassador for Women & Children’s Affairs who will be in Geneva next week.
