Lisa Chung Bender

Lisa Chung Bender is the Executive Director of the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack. She has over 15 years of experience working in child rights, humanitarian response, and equity-focused social programs. Lisa has brought a commitment to intersectional feminism and child-centered approaches to organizations ranging from United Nations agencies, international NGOs, to community non-profits.  

A strong belief in collective impact has driven Lisa to roles that build coalitions for sustainable change, including serving as Chair of the Global Alliance for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience in the Education Sector, serving as a team lead for the design and launch of Education Cannot Wait, and authoring technical guidance for the Inter-Agency Standing Committee. In addition to her professional endeavors, Lisa is dedicated to creating change in her own communities by serving as a Team Leader with New York Cares and as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children and youth in foster care, in addition to being a certified therapeutic foster parent.
